An electric car or a plug-in hybrid for the next generation Corvette.
Chevrolet has registered the name E-Ray in the patent and trademark office of the USA meaning that might be thinking of an electrified version of its legendary sports.
It is not the first sport that aspires to be an electrified version. They have already done Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and BMW. But the case of the Corvette is more significant for what it represents for the American automobile industry that built the first sports Chevrolet, back in 1953. A model that besides accumulating awards and versions, has been co-star in movies and series that have have enjoyed for generations of Americans.
Now you may be asking a Chevrolet plug-in hybrid electric version, maybe. The first option would surely be a rolling laboratory to test the technology, but the second option could materialize to fight for a virtual podium with McLaren P1 and laferrari. It is unlikely that this hybrid version appears in the current generation Corvette, the C7, but would be more likely to appear in the next.
For now, General Motors has not confirmed the arrival of the new model. Anyway the electric version would aim of criticism and praise. A car that has always been characterized by accelerating too fast, run far and above all make too much noise. With the electric car would remove this last feature that could attract purists hate and praise from environmental advocates.
