The Kia Niro HEV get this level of extremely low emissions and outstanding consumer economy by a propulsion system reduced in size. The Kappa engine with gasoline direct injection (GDI) 1.6-liter Kia produces 105 hp and 147 Nm of torque. It is combined with a 32 kW electric motor and a lithium-ion and lithium polymer battery of 1.56 kWh. The combined propulsion system power is 141 hp and is transmitted to the road through efficient gearbox six-speed double clutch (6DCT), with 264 Nm of torque in first gear.
It has a boot volume of 421 l (VDA) and enough to carry a spare wheel of normal size under the trunk floor space. Since the fourth quarter of 2016, Niro will be available with optional trailer-rare ability among hybrids-cars that allow users to drag braked trailer of up to 1,300 kg.
